Soak the large, round seeds in water to soften their hard coat before sowing. Press lightly into soil surface and keep moist. Etc: As beautiful as New Mexico itself, the Wild Iris can be found in the meadows of the back country. In Greek mythology, Iris was named the goddess of the rainbow and messenger of the gods. This lovely perennial was also chosen by France's King Louis VII to be his symbol of victory following the second Crusades. He called it the Fleur-de-lis.

The seeds are very small and should be sown directly on the soil surface to 1/16" depth. Keep soil moist. Adapted to well drained areas in full sun.
