Our Vacation Chronicle …..

First off, I have to apologize for taking a vacation in the middle of the Iditarod. I know some of you asked be to keep you update and I promised to do so; but it’s been almost 8 years since we’ve been out of Alaska and we seriously needed a break from the cold, and I needed to visit with my father out in Arizona. He went through a lot this past year with his health, and I wasn’t able to be there with him. Not to mention all that my entire family has been through this year with the loss of 2 family members way too early. It was more than time that I got out to Arizona to be with everyone.

Secondly, to all those that ordered wildflower seeds while we were out; all orders have been shipped out and on their way. Thank you for your patience! :)

Now, let me share with you what we have been up to over the past several days…. I hope you’re ready for lots of photographs and stories.

Part 1: Arizona

Date & Time: Sunday, March 3, 2013 - 12:45 am

Mission: Go to Arizona to visit family and soak up the heat.

Our first flight was extremely bumpy from all the extreme turbulence. I honestly thought I was in the Twilight Zone movie and was going to see a man on the wing! There were a few times the lights on the plane were flickering off and on - that’s how bad it was! But, we made it to our first touch-down which was in Denver, Colorado. We only stayed there for 3 hours as it was just our layover, but I did enjoy watching the sunrise on the horizon from the airplane window.

Sunrise In Denver, Colorado

After our layover in Denver, we now boarded a very small plane.  After the last bumpy flight to Denver, the size of this plane made heart beat extremely fast! I was sure we were not going to make it to our next stop in one piece, but after a few many long, deep breaths, and a nice tall Mojito, I was feeling much better. Our next stop was in Tucson, Arizona. This is where most of my family lives, and where I was born and raised for ….well, we won’t go into details of how many years, but let’s just say it was quite a long time.  Anyway, we stayed in Arizona for a week and visited with as many family members as possible. We also tried to soak in as much vitamin D as possible! It was even more special for us because my mother-in-law was also able to fly out from Texas to visit with us. It was a delightful visit with both of our parents, and other family members as well.
